In 2006 Mansfield in a joint bid with its neighbouring authorities of Bolsover and Ashfield won £7.6 million as part of the Local Enterprise Growth Initiative Funding Programme.

This funding was to increase levels of enterprise within the most deprived areas of the 3 districts. The programme is now fully up and running and provides a range of support for existing businesses and for individuals who are looking to start their own businesses.

LEO Business is funded by LEGI and provides a range of help and support to start-up and existing as well as future entrepreneurs. Work is centred around 5 workstreams:

Procurement, helping business gain lucative public sector contracts
Business Realm, creating a secure and functional network of business premises
Enterprise Academy, working with schools to inspire the entrepreneurs of the future.
Outreach Business Suport, including the Biz Fizz advisors provide help and support to businesses in all aspects of buisness need.
Making the Connection, provide a vital link between businesses and potential employees.
