Planning permission has now been granted for the creation of a landmark Transport Interchange. The project will result in high quality transport facilities which will serve Mansfield well into the future.
The Mansfield Transport interchange will the move the current bus station to Station Road and will be linked by footpath to the train station. The new Interchange will create a positive first impression for visitors to Mansfield and will provide first class facilities, like a staffed travel information office.
The project will cost around £10 million and will be funded by Mansfield District Council, The Department for Transport, Nottinghamshire County Council and the East Midlands Development Agency as well as the European Regional Development Fund and the Alliance Sub-Regional Strategic Partnership.
The Mansfield Interchange will provide an excellent first impression for the 5 million passengers the current bus station handles every year. The increased investment will also help to attract new visitors.
The current bus station is the busiest in Nottinghamshire outside the city and this project will create the transport infrastructure necessary to serve Mansfield well into the future.
